Confessions of a Viral Video Producer :
The Ugly Truth About How YouTube is Preventing Your Progress on Guitar — And What to Do About It Starting Right Now ...
Here's Everything You Need to Know to Play Your First Song Easily and Flawlessly — and Then Be Able to Strum Dozens More at the Drop of a Hat ...

WARNING:

This is the most important page you will read all year on playing guitar. Please read every word because your entire guitar journey depends on it.

I will be making no friends in the guitar instruction community for what I’m about to reveal. It might offend some. I’m good with that. The truth is always worth it. Right, wrong or indifferent, I feel it's stuff that needs to be said.
Look, I know the above sounds a bit dramatic, but what I’m about to show you is the crucial difference between people who end up just “noodling around” on guitar in frustration, and those who fulfill the original vision that led them to guitar in the first place.

I don’t care if that means playing your girlfriend’s favorite song while she sits on the edge of her bed, or whether that means being able to jam with anyone at a moment’s notice, improvising with brilliance, writing songs, scoring gigs, starting bands, whatever.

Doesn’t matter. YOUR dream is the only one that counts here.

With that said, let's get started ...
"It's like crack cocaine."
Not my words.

I was chatting with someone who recently decided to learn how to play guitar. I don’t want to embarrass this guy, so let’s call him “Brian."

Like a lot of people, Brian found a starting point and learned a few things: a couple chords, a few strum patterns …

So far, so good, right?

But then he somehow fell down a rabbit hole of techniques he was neither ready for or might not even need for a very, very long time (if ever):  modes, sweeps, crosspicking, coil tapping, legato ...

... even chanking for God’s sake!

(If you don’t know what chanking is, let’s just say unless you’re in a funk band playing James Brown covers, you can list that one on your to-do calendar dated, “Someday, Twelfth of Never.”)

"Dude, who told you to learn THAT?” I asked him.

“No one,” he said. “But I was on YouTube and I thought it looked cool.”
Mind you, Brian was no dummy. He’s actually a successful business owner with two kids and a big side dream. But he is one of untold thousands who right at this exact moment are caught up in what I call the "YouTube Vortex": a time-sucking, dream-stealing, talent-stalling phenomenon that will derail any ambition you have for guitar if you’re not careful.

I asked Brian to tell me a little bit more about his situation.

Turns out he got a little bored after learning a few chords ...

Despite all the practice, he felt like he was no closer to playing actual songs, which was the whole point he picked up guitar in the first place.

He was confused. Overwhelmed. Discouraged. Bored. And was now considering quitting guitar altogether.

Brian’s problem was threefold:

Problem No. 1 — He didn’t know what to learn next. (And even if he COULD figure out what to learn next, he didn’t know how to make it interesting or fun.)

Problem No. 2 — He didn’t know how to put what he’d already learned into CONTEXT (clue!!) … so that he could ADVANCE HIS SKILLS to reach his ultimate playing GOAL.

Problem No. 3 — Whenever he felt like he had hit “The Wall,” he’d look for a bright, shiny escape hatch.
“Whenever something got hard, I went to YouTube to look around,” he said. “It was like crack cocaine for me.”
That’s a little sad.

But it’s also an understandable reality in today’s swipe-left culture, where we scroll, tap or click our way to false shortcuts and paint-by-numbers solutions rather than do what REALLY works instead.
And the irony is ... the thing that really works?

... IS ACTUALLY THE EASIER THING.
Important Disclaimer: That’s not to say learning guitar ITSELF is easy. It’s not. Anyone who tells you differently is either lying to you, or trying to sell you something.

If it was so easy, then everyone would already have their own band by now, don’t you think? But its difficulty is actually an HONOR, because it’s soooo worth it. We’re the special ones  :-)

Anyway, know this … learning guitar can be made easier. MUCH EASIER.

Let me explain. It all begins with one simple fact ...
Everything You've Heard About Learning Guitar Online is Wrong
(Plus Other Assorted Truths No One Tells You) ...
My name is Tim Gilberg. As founder and CEO of Guitar Jamz for more than 10 years, I’ve been responsible for arguably more views of guitar instruction videos than anyone else in the world.

As I type this — the numbers go up constantly, every minute, like the number of Taylor Swift song downloads — my combined channels have amassed a total of nearly ONE BILLION views.
It’s been quite a ride. We’ve changed a lot of lives and helped a lot of guitarists. And I’m proud to have been a part of the guitar instruction revolution.
But There's a Dark Side to the Explosion of the Online Guitar Lessons ...
… and believe it or not, it’s something that’s been holding back millions of aspiring guitarists … without them even knowing it.

Are you one of them? Well, let’s find out ...
  •  Does guitar sometimes seem intimidating or overly difficult?
  •  Do you sometimes wonder, “Who am I kidding! Me, play guitar? I’ll just see how it goes …"
  • Have you ever felt like you’ve “Hit the Wall” on your playing?
  •  Does you find yourself playing the same thing over and over again?
  •  Are you unsure of what to practice NEXT?
  •  Are you unsure that you’re even going to USE what you’ve been practicing?
  •  Do you seem to be STUCK in the same box on the guitar neck, playing the same familiar chords over and over?
  •  Do you feel like you’re in a rut?
  •  Does it seem like there’s too much to learn and “you’re not there yet”?
  •  Have you ever felt like quitting?
Well ... How Did You Do?
If you answered “Yes" to even one of these questions — or if you just want to learn songs more quickly and easily than ever before and have more fun in the process — then please keep reading, because in the next few short pages, I’m going to change the way you think about your guitar journey ... just a little — but enough to make you say, “DANG! That makes total sense. Why didn’t I think of that before?”

In fact, I’m going to give “the big secret” right up front on the next page.

(You’ll also see that it led to Marty Schwartz’s “big breakthrough” on guitar that led him to get over the hump and never look back :-)

See you on the next page.
